Mobility scooters are battery-powered devices that are operated by switches on the handlebars, that allow you to propel yourself. You can easily control your own speed and direction while sitting comfortably on the built-in seat. This is a particularly popular option for many people who have difficulty with mobility. Mobility scooters are divided into different classes, all of our scoots can be used on the road.
You get a battery charger that you can recharge the mobility scooter. What is handy about this charger is that when the battery is full, it stops automatically. When your battery is empty, it takes about 10 hours to charge. You can do this best at night, in one session as, this is better for the battery lifespan.
You may drive with your scooter both on foot and bicycle path, and on the roadway. You may NOT on highways and motorways. On the footpath you may do the same as a pedestrian, you only need to adjust your speed. The maximum speed for driving on the pavement or footpath is 6 kilometres per hour. On the cycle path you have the same legal status as a cyclist. On the cycle path within the built-up area you can drive up to 30 km/hour. If you drive outside the built-up area you may drive up to a speed of 40 km/hour. On the road, you have the same rights as a cyclist/moped. Above all, keep it safe.
Mobility scooters are extremely easy to use, which is ideal for people who have never ridden a mobility scooter before. They are designed for use outdoors, giving users flexibility in their movements. Scooters are especially suitable for able-bodied people with good trunk and arm strength to remain comfortable for long periods of time. Scootmobiles can also handle difficult or steep terrain without difficulty, giving users the ability to move across surfaces and distances they would normally struggle with on foot. What's more, mobility scooters come in many shapes and sizes, making them suitable for different users. Whether you're looking for a lightweight mobility scooter that you can fold into the boot of the car, or a model that can take a beating, there's always a mobility scooter to suit you.
Mobility scooters still require a certain amount of physical assistance to operate them. They are not suitable for people who do not have good trunk and arm strength, as they will struggle to stay balanced and operate the mobility scooter. Moreover, mobility scooters can sometimes take up a lot of space if they are not foldable. You should make sure that you have enough storage space for a class 3 mobility scooter or any other large model. This means that they are not ideal for people with small homes where space is important. Mobility scooters also tend to have a larger turning radius, making them harder to manoeuvre in small spaces.
Good news. You do not need a license to drive a mobility scooter. If you have not been active in traffic for a long time, we recommend you to be careful.
This is very much dependent on your mobility scooter, as well as, your weight or, better, the weight of the driver, the temperature, the surface where you ride and the size and condition of the battery. An estimate can be found in the manual of your mobility scooter.
